If you've ever wondered what yoga is truly about beyond the physical practice, this two-day workshop led by our founder Wendy Chan offers the perfect starting point.
Together, we'll explore the philosophical foundations of yoga through two of its most influential texts—the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras—and discover how their teachings can help us navigate stress, uncertainty, relationships and everyday life with greater clarity and purpose.
Each day combines Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Storytelling, Philosophy and group discussion, allowing you to experience these teachings both on and off the mat.
Over two days, you'll explore:
- The origins and evolution of yoga
- The story of Arjuna's dilemma and its relevance to our own inner struggles
- The key concepts of karma (action) and dharma (purpose)
- An introduction to Patanjali and the purpose of the Yoga Sutras
- The meaning of "Yogaś citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ"—calming the fluctuations of the mind
- The Eight Limbs of Yoga as a practical guide for living, not just practising yoga
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with:
- A clear understanding of yoga's philosophical foundations
- A deeper appreciation of the Bhagavad Gita and Yoga Sutras
- Practical tools to cultivate a calmer mind and make wiser decisions
- A framework for integrating yoga into daily life beyond asana
- A strong foundation for further study or teacher training
Whether you're a yoga practitioner, teacher, or simply curious about the deeper purpose of yoga, this workshop will help you connect the ancient wisdom of yoga with the realities of modern living.
Suitable for all levels. No prior knowledge of yoga philosophy is required.
